Stoner on top in Ducati-Ferrari showdown

The 2007 MotoGP World Champion Casey Stoner was the top dog in an ice-kart race which concluded last week´s traditional Ducati-Ferrari Wrooom get together, as he beat 2008 F1 runner-up Felipe Massa on four wheels.

The annual Ducati-Ferrari Wrooom event drew to a close on Friday in the Northern Italian ski resort of Madonna di Campiglio with the former MotoGP World Champion Casey Stoner emerging as the winner in an exciting ice-kart race which also involved his new teammate Nicky Hayden and Ferrari F1 star Felipe Massa.

Ducati and Ferrari traditionally host their official pre-season presentations together in the Dolomite mountains and the MotoGP riders enjoyed the week of skiing and light hearted activities, in amongst the serious business of photo shoots and press conferences as the Ducati Desmosedici GP9 was unveiled and Hayden was formally introduced to the media by the Italian factory.

However, it was his successor as MotoGP World Champion, Stoner, who won the plaudits on Friday evening in the friendly ice-kart race, holding off second placed Massa, third placed Ferrari test driver Luca Badoer and fourth placed Hayden. Massa´s Finnish teammate Kimi Raikkonen was absent due to a fever.
